Employee Testing
The United States Department of Labor has issued very strict guidelines on who may and may not request a polygraph examination from an employee. With implementation of the Employee Polygraph Protection Act (E.P.P.A.), both employers and polygraph examiners are subject to fines in the amount of $10,000.00 if the guidelines are not strictly adhered to and all of requirements met. It is recommended that every employer be familiar with the E.P.P.A requirements. To assist you in deciding to request a polygraph, I have included a link to the American Polygraph Association which can provide you and your company invaluable information. Be aware, the mere asking an employee to submit to a polygraph examination can result in a $10,000.00 fine if not done correctly.
